Dr. Robert Leigh -- General Dentist
I'm very pleased that you have chosen our website for information about the placing and restoring of Dental Implants. Dental Implants are not new - in fact, the basic procedure for the replacing of missing teeth has been around since the time of the ancient Egyptians, but the major advancements in the area of Dental Implants have taken place over the last 20 years. Our Implant Info and Technology pages will give you more details about Dental Implants.
I am a General Dentist, and have been practicing Dentistry since 1975, after graduating from the University of Western Ontario Dental School with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Prior to that, I graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree. Before entering Dental School, I was working on a Master's Degree in Physiology at the University of Western Ontario.
Shortly after graduating from Western, I became increasingly interested in Dental Implants, and viewed them as a good treatment option for replacing missing teeth or stabilizing dentures, or as an alternative to standard removable partial or complete dentures. I recall, at that time, that dental implants were viewed with skepticism by some dental professionals, but are now recognized as a viable treatment option worldwide. Having a father and uncles who were Design Engineers, I saw this new treatment modality in a different light. Tens of thousands of dental implants are placed yearly by thousands of General Dentists and Dental Specialists. My Referral-based practice is limited to Full-time Implant Placement, Restoration, associated Bone Grafting, related care, and Teaching.
Like all Dentists in Alberta, as a practicing Dentist, and in order to maintain my license, I am required by the Alberta Dental Association + College to maintain an educational standard through continuing education programs. In an effort to become more proficient in my profession, throughout my career I have always kept current with continuing education in Dental Implant Treatments. Unlike the Dental Associations in other Canadian Provinces, the Alberta Dental Association + College does not permit Alberta Dentists to advertise or list on websites their memberships in any associations related to Dental Implants or Dental Cosmetics, or any credentials they may have received from those associations. However, if you contact me directly at email@example.com, I will be happy to send you a copy of my Curriculum Vitae, and experience in the area of Dental Implant treatments. I believe that it is extremely important for patients to be informed about the qualifications and experience of the dental professional who may be performing Dental Implant techniques.
According to the advertising rules of The Alberta Dental Association + College, my full Curriculum Vitae is only available to those current and prospective patients who specifically request to see it. Are you requesting to see Dr. Leigh's' curriculum vitae? If yes, please check the Curriculum Vitae button on the Contact Form page, enter your email address and name in the fields below, and his CV will be sent directly to you. Or, click on the email link above.
I realize the importance of continuing to improve my dental implant education, skills and techniques in the always-evolving area of Dental Implants.

My wife Anita, who was born in Westlock, a Registered Dental Assistant Level II, just recently completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. Our oldest son Austen just graduated from Highschool, and our youngest, Even, is in grade Eleven. We all live on our ranch just north of Westlock. My daughter, Brandy Lynn, lives and works in Victoria, B.C. We have a new Shepernese breed puppy named Roxy. Anita and I love to travel with our two sons and their older sister. We also love to spend time on our quads, boating, and enjoy the rural lifestyle. Austen loves farming and hunting, and Evan loves computers.
Personally, I look forward to meeting and speaking with new patients who want to take advantage of the benefits afforded by the placing of Dental Implants.
